I sincerely wish all of you and your family a year full of happiness and success on your professional endeavors.
This year marks the 48th anniversary since the Korean Society of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technology (KSPST) was first founded; KSPST started in 1971 with a vision to globalize and advance the field of pharmaceutical sciences in Korea. KSPST has sought to apply the advancement of pharmaceutical sciences to ultimately contribute to the well-being of mankind.
I believe that KSPST has achieved remarkable growth by adhering to the visions of the founding members as well as by keeping track of the advancement and changes in global trend in pharmaceutical sciences. KSPST has always been in the forefront by providing pharmaceutical industries with excellent human resources and the latest and accurate findings in scientific research. In addition to serving as a liaison between the academia and industry, we hope to continue to take part and contribute in further advancing the pharmaceutical industries in Korea. We also should continue our endeavor in further developing KSPST into an internationally recognized academic society. I would like to emphasize that without the participation, devotion and service of our members, we could not have come this far and made such significant achievements. I therefore would like to express my deepest appreciation to all our members for their commitment over the years and ask for their continuous support for the future.
In 2014, Korea joined Pharmaceutical Inspection Co-operation Scheme (PIC/S), and in 2016, Korea became the 6th official member of the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH). In addition, continuous R&D enabled Korean pharmaceutical companies to export drug products to 180 countries. There is no doubt that pharmaceutical industry will be one of the major growth engines for our country in the future of "fourth industrial revolution" era. Accordingly, we expect the role of KSPST to become more and more important. Thus, I hope that KSPST will continue in 2019 to serve its role in contributing to the advancement of the pharmaceutical industries in Korea as well as internationally. In order for this to happen, we as members must collaborate as a group. I ask our members to hold on to our long-term vision and collegiality, remembering that the growth of KSPST must go hand in hand with the advancement of Korea's pharmaceutical industry.
KSPST has always been proud of the high level research activities of our members. In 2019, we hope that the Journal of Pharmaceutical Investigation (KSPST journal) will become upgraded to a SCI-E journal. For this, we invite every one of you to continue to submit your top-notch publications.
In closing, I thank all our members once again for their passion, commitment and participation. The board members and officers of 2019 will do our best to continue our endeavor for KSPST and we ask your continuous cooperation. We look forward to a vibrant year ahead.
